Pestily beats Summit1g and Dr DisRespect in $10,000 Escape from Tarkov tournament

While Escape from Tarkov has become one of Twitch’s biggest titles since the turn of the year, we haven’t really seen the tactical looter-shooter showcased as a competitive game. That was until BoomTV challenged eight Escape from Tarkov creators to duke it out for seven hours for the chance to win $10,000.

But while most solo tournaments in FPS games revolve around getting the most kills, the Code Red Escape from tarkov tournament put the focus on the looting, with the winner being whoever could make the most Roubles in that seven hour time frame from doing raids.

Despite a number of Twitch’s biggest stars like Jaryd ‘Summit1g’ Lazar, Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo, and Guy ‘Dr DisRespect’ Beahm featuring, the winner was one of the most recognisable names in the Tarkov community: ‘Pestily.’ The Australian streamer made a huge amount of profit during his seven hours of raiding, topping the charts with ₽14,140,000.

However, the $10,000 prize wasn’t going to sit for long in Pestily’s pockets as he immediately donated it all to his ongoing charity drive to raise a million dollars in 2020 for Starlight, a charity helping to improve the lives of sick children in Australia.

A lot more fun than I expected it to be! I don’t think my blood pressure can handle competitive Tarkov scene though. Casting looks fun! Thanks for having me apart of it and all my winnings will be donated directly to the charity fundraising for @Starlight_star #4thekids https://t.co/JxkOBx7UTA

While Pestily breezed through the tournament, things weren’t so easy for The Two-Time himself, Dr DisRespect, who finished dead last and had some rather frustrating moments… Just like this one.

Tarkov’s popularity on Twitch swelled over the New Year and has continued to post impressive numbers as some of the platform’s biggest names continue to stream it to their viewers.

However, it may be some way off being ready for the world of esports just yet; especially with Tarkov’s rather temperamental servers.
